On a balmy December night in Greenrough, Western Australia, the last thing a tired truck driver expects to see whilst driving down the highway is a glowing tower far off on the horizon.

A looming 10-meter high windmill can be seen from over 5 km away shining bright against the night sky. This windmill belongs to Mainline Electrical Contractors of Geraldton and has been decorated in hundreds of twinkling LED Christmas lights to bring some Christmas cheer to everyone who may pass.

After seeing a Christmas promotion sent out by ANL Lighting for these long lasting, high brightness LED lights, Mainline Electrical contacted the ANL Lighting Projects Department with their festive idea.

Alan and Rose Main, who run Mainline Electrical, wanted to make the windmill on their private residential property look like a Christmas tree in the bush. What they weren’t expecting was the way it touched the people who saw it shining in the distance like a beacon of hope and Christmas cheer. Truck drivers who had passed the windmill on their route were bringing their families back to the Greenough property to show them the Christmas windmill.
